Interesting, from which Tiger Shrimp variety did the orange color come from? Any with thicker stripes.

If a tiger shrimp is this color, soon it will meet its maker.
But if this is not the tiger shrimps we are talking about, it maybe a different story.

The habitus from your shrimp looks a little bit different from a tiger, for me.

Looks more like a red c. serrata "Tuepfel" to me.

Andreas Karge has made a taxonomy (PDF (http://caridea.de/archiv/pdf/goldentiger.pdf)) and tends to say they are caridina cantonensis. Besides, the orange color does not fade as I have been told by someone keeping that shrimps.

The colour is made with ink and the offspring is transparent from what I know/read in the article you linked.
IMHO you better look for Propinqua or orange Sakura.

I have several this shrimps...only male....!
They are tough species...!
