I don't know about that, mine seem to be active every time I check on them :)

Mine too.. I was wondering because I read on the web that most freshwater shrimps are nocturnal.. not sure if they are more comfortable if I don't keep the light on for extended time.. :p
(By the way I also keep bichirs and they are nocturnal but they are also active in light... )

They are always very active wif lights on/off.
But i think they do need to rest also like humans.cos after some time of lights off, when u turn back on the lights u can see the colour of the shrimp is of lighter shade.

I noticed that phenomenon too. Could it be that light actually stresses them except that they sort of get used to it when the light is turned on for longer?
I've read that for shrimps, the less you fuss over them the more they breed. Do you think this could have some relation with light? :)

As long there is enough plant cover or other shelters, it is ok to on the lights for long hours. :)
