Has anyone in this forum successfully kept king snails ?

I bought some, but they always seemed to be trying to escape the tank. Then they died off one by one. The last one lasted 7 days, it was always at the water surface, rarely moving from its spot.

I am not even sure anymore these are aquatic snails.

If you have kept them successfully, how did you do it ? Do they scavenge in the tank like other tylo's ?
Does anyone know what is its wild habitat ?

Perhaps they need brackish water.
Mine also died in 1 or 2 weeks.

yes i have them last time and have the same problem with you. I think they prefer to be out of water. mine died after some time because they are always on the glass and above water, and have nothing to feed on. I think they will survive in a vivarium. disappointed because i cannot manage to keep the nicest of all tylo snail.

This snail belongs to genus cerithidea and will not survive in freshwater! They come from the mangrove area where brackish water and salt water mix. Try cerithidea celebes for further searches on the internet. I would try 20-25g salt pro liter.

Most of the pages I have read are in German; I am sorry. One King Snail keeper has prepared a kind of aqua-terrarium for this snails because the like to leave the water from time to time. (http://www.aquarienschnecken-forum.de/board/wbb/?page=Thread&postID=83302#post83302)
