hi guys,
besides the food sold in the shop, do you feed your shrimp with fresh food or other food that found in nature? veg or fruits?
is there any food to encourage breeding besides the manfactured food?
thanks
anyway to encourage sakura to breed?

Besides your commercially available fish food you can feed Organic Spinach which is cleaned properly and boiled for abou 10 min.
But i personally feel its the water conditions that induces breeding and not food.
Sakuras should be pretty easy to breed compared to CRS.

Well, i boil it till it kinda becomes soft .... difficult to explain, I just let it sit for 10 min on a low flame, so probably would not term it as boiling.
What do you recommend .... any special recipies ? :)

Yeah, the softest it gets, the shrimps will like them more.
I think, the most I use is 1 minute or so, if not much spinach, like a few leaves and longer if large amount. The leftover can put in freezer and used for next whole month meals. Nothing too special on how to boil it. But finding it troublesome to boil and to make them sink, spinach was great in the days when there was no commerical shrimp food.

Thanks Silane .... I agree , making them sink is a bit troublesome.
I once boiled a lot of spinach and then kept the excess in the freezer....is that a good idea? Or is it better to put the fresh spinach in the freezer and then boil small quantities whenever required.

Long duration of boiling and long duration and freezing and "reheat" destory nutriention. So boil for short while each time is the best... but this is too troublesome.

thanks guys,
other then spinach?
hmm, if we use the boiled spinach, will it contiminate the water?
i read somewhere that for soft leave veg like spinach, the nutrients will will actually break down once heated to 60 deg cel.
upon boiling, only certain nutrient left unbroken and thats only less then 20 % of all the nutrients
thats what i read.
if never boil, just give raw, will it be a problem?
can sakura breed in singapore room temperature? these 2 days, i see the increase in the shrimps appetite. like they will know whe the food is and go for it. all along i though they only eat if they meet the food...lol
