Can anybody advise me on what to do? My crs have not been eating for the past two days. Saw a died shrimp today. I just did a 50% water change using aged water, hopefully they can regain their appetite. Anybody have the same experience and can share how to deal with this situation? Thanks in advance.

Maybe you might want to check your tank for ammonia and No3?

Whats the PH of your tank? High PH will stress the CRS and eventually lose their appetite. If Higher than Ph of 7.5, the CRS will be in trouble. Try to keep the PH between 6.8 -6.9

How old is the tank and how long has it been cycled?

We might need more information help you with your problem.

Ya, simcb is right. There are many factors to look into. Do provide more info. Anyway how you know they aren't eating? They just sit there and don't move their limbs?

I was going to suggest that perhaps the CRS was in the molting process. Shrimp are known to stop being active (swimming, eating, etc.) when they are preparing to molt. They just sit. However, since it's been two days since it last ate, there are stress factors involved. Did you recently make a big change to the tank? Is it pooping, and if it is, is the poop stringy or solid? Stringy poop signifies either stress or constipation.

What are your water parameters?

today did a check with my test kit.
Result
Ammonia- zero
No3- 5ppm
Copper- Nil
Ph- 7.1

The tank had been cycled for 2 years already. Recently add some bacteria liquid and some tiger shrimps. One of tiger shrimps was found to have tail rot, did not see any sickness when i first add them. Later found some dead tigers and then my crs stop eating!!!

Previously when i feed them with those expensive crs food, they will quickly swamp around the food and start eating. Now when i feed them onli 2-3 crs will come out to eat, so i find something amiss.

have you tried fasting them for a few days -- letting them find algae and whatever else in the tank. Then try the food again.

I think is bad water quality but i have tested the water show otherwise. Maybe is disease outbreak. Saw 3 dead crs today. The only thing i can do is do a 25% water change with aged water to try stop the crs from dying.

you could also try adding a little melafix...might not help much if they are too far gone -- but I have seen first hand how it can help stressed fish, crayfish and snails.

Bro...
50% water is more recommended...
Once water turns back, 25% water change is not enough..

How long you have not clean your cannister filter..
Once water turns back, 25% water change is not enough to over runs it..

Do take good care of your precious shrimps..

Whats the temperature of your tank? I cant figure out whats causing the tail rot. I suspect the below.

Tail rot ... might be :
1 . Bad water.
2 . PH test kit faulty.
3 . Lack of calcium/iodate(lack of varties of food).
4 . Result of incomplete moulting

CRS is not eating because there is low ammonia due to the dead tigers. They should get better, hope its not a disease.

simcb, the tail rot shrimps is from the tigers which i bought from a lfs. I put the tigers in the tank then i realise they have tail rot, didn't bother to take them out. :embarasse

Water confirm BAD

Now they are eating well............ but now and then have 1-2 dead shrimps. Still puzzle why they will die, maybe its the law of nature, because they gave birth to many off-springs, so they die easily.......  Or because they die of old age??? Couldn-t be, cause i just bought them 3 months back when they are about 3 months old..
