That is so cute.
I still have just 8 or 9 adults, about 30 babies and lots of newborns, it doesn't look even nearly as impressive as that traffic on your tank :D
And the grade of those... Amazing.

Hi all,
Don't admire me, you will have your swamp with good number of breeding stock, proper care and determination. Each CRS carries 20 to 40 eggs, so theoretically to get a swamp of this size, you need just 5 to 10 female, but in reality, survival rate is lower.
vinnymac,
Where I got them from? Hmm..... I got them from their parents. :D
Walter,
Don't you have something else to say beside praising spinach, coral chips and gravel? :joking: :joking:

Crystal blacks? lol Naomi, you're adding to the problem of the "common name" of shrimp species. Aren't those new bee shrimp? Hmmm... maybe I'm the confused one.

There are some diamond/bee shrimps (http://www.shrimpnow.com/forums/showthread.php?t=189) in there, as I have 1 adult diamond shrimp. It crosses with CRS to produce the black specimens.
I have heard another name for the diamond shrimp, it is called Othella, quite a nice name. :)

Ooops... Sorry! I thought I once came across the post by this American guy in Japan who was trying to develop a strain of crystal red shrimp where the red bands were extremely black. I thought they were referred to as "crystal black shrimp" but I probably imagined it... All of this "new bee" and "new bee type #" is awful... Sort of reminds me of that novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude" where all of the men in the book had the same name. I remember very little else about the book, too  .

Fruitpie, that is such a cute series of pics - thanks for sharing, I'm sure many here would have been inspired by your tankful of great CRS and diamonds! Fantastic job! :2thumbsup
I've never tried boiled spinach with my CRS before, but after looking at their obvious enthusiasm I'm definitely gonna try it now! Off to the market tomorrow then! :D Did you have to boil it long? How long does it take for your army of shrimps to finish off a piece like the one shown in the pics?

I boiled it for a minute or so, the longer the boil, the soft it became, they like it better.
Not sure how long they will take to finish the whole piece, but I guess overnight, I usually remove the spinach after a few hours when it is full of holes and when it is the time it messes the water a little.

Thanks for the tip! Just plucked some spinach leaves from my mum's fridge for trying out in my office tank tomorrow. Probably start with a small piece first. Anyway I only have 10 CRS at the moment! lol

Haha, you got to wait for a while to see higher grade tank with such mass. The higher grade tank has a few near-hinomaru and hinomaru, I have no mosura. :(
