Hi all shrimpers:earmuffs:, A friend of mine have told me about the water in Singapore. I best to contain them over nite before we use it for our tank. His fishes and shrimps had die because of direct water change from the tap. Wonder have anyone encounter the same problem?

Even you leave it overnight, for shrimps, you still to add anticholrine.

A dechlorinator *must* be used if your water contains chloramine. The chemical bond is much stronger than chlorine and it will not break simply by aging the water, no matter how long you leave it out. Chloramine will inhibit proper breathing function by your tanks' inhabitants.

Hi all, so do we have a conclusion here? Is there a way or 2 to make sure the water is safe for our shrimps tank? Should I now contain the water over night or there is other way to make the water safer to use? Do share.

Honestly, it's a matter of personal preference. I personally do not age my water. It goes straight from tap to tank with a little bit of dechlor and that's it. No special treatment. Then, again, I haven't kept any exotic species of shrimp and have stuck with cherries the last year or so, mostly due to lack of time to tend to them.

Thanks Retardo, I believe in some study and experience do help. I normally only change 20% of my tank water nows a day. Filter is important as well. I am careful with my water change. As I had experienced before my whole tank of shrimps went heaven after water change. Hope that more will share their experience here.
