Hello all,

Anyone tried under gravel filter for shrimp tank? Setting up a shrimp tank using ADA Amazonia, was wondering if the above will be a good choice. Advise would be very much appreciated. :undecided

I think it is good.. you wouldn't need to worry about shrimps getting sucked into the filter like people using most other systems. :)

Adasoil has a life span of 1.5 years, after that it will disintegrate into powder form, I am not sure if the action of uder gravel filter will speed up breaking the soil into loose form.

Thanks guys,

Fruitpie has a point, key reason to go for ugf is the lazyman method of clearing the CRS poopoo. If coupled with a hangon filter, i think the suction should not be too strong that the lifespan of ADA soil will be greatly reduced. ADA soil is also loose enough that the ugf can be effective (i think).

No one has tried this before????

Haha most of us use hang-on, sponge, overhead, internal, internal overflow filters.

Seldom hear people use under-gravel filter but it should be fine. No idea about the ADA soil lifespan shortening though.
