saw one of my bee shrimps struggled to death.... unable to move around, but just kicking and struggling with the little picking claws... after watching The Ring??
a minute or so after the last breath, saw some tiny worms (thread like, transparent) wiggling out from beneath the body!!!
were the death caused by the worms? or just coincidently the worms just inside?
is there any shrimp disease found out so far by fellow hobbyist/experts? :bs_help:
anything we can do when seeing such anomaly (before the last breath)? :bs_help:

The worms are they those wriggling types or flatworms?
I heard flatworms might attack shrimps.... try not to over feed your shrimps....and see if those worms reduce.... do water change more often.
As a last resort use a dewormer solution. I heard Azoo dewormer and Demilin is shrimp friendly ..... always under dose it just in case. Look out and make sure its copper free....copper kills your shrimps. Check the ingredient break down dont trust the sales guy.

simcb,
thanks for the info.
they are so tiny, cant see whether are they flat. (but sure they are not those leeches) sometimes c them wriggle/swim from point to point.
can it be controlled by keeping a fish or two (e.g. guppies/tetra) inside?

If it is hydra, but Ljung's does not sound like to me. Seachem Prime can be used. Follow the emergency dosage at the bottle, I know it sounds weird, what does anti-chlorine got to do with anti-hydra, but it works and it is safe. Other brand of anti-chorine may works too.
Those worms in body/head are quite common in wild caught shrimps.

Those are planaria and nematode worms, they are not known to get into bodies of shrimps. Nematode worms are harmless, fishs love them. Planaria is known to attack small and sick shrimps.
You can leave Nematode worms alone.
For planaria, you can make a trap with liver or other bloody raw food as a lure inside the trap to catch them.

not the planaria
might be the nematode, not really sure 'coz they look like a fine 5mm string under naked eyes..
thanks for the link. :)
think will try by dumping in some fish, hope that solves the problem.

Nematode worms do not get into body of shrimp, they live in gravel, wriggle in water sometimes. Yours could be a type of parasitic worms, dewormer is needed.

you mean Seachem prime can get rid of hydra?
Prime is an anti cholrine solution?
I have been wanting to get rid of them...but dont know how.
Dose anti chorine into the shrimps tank will kill the shrimps or not? How to dose use a dropper and target those hydra or just pour it in?

Hydra eat babies shrimps. :D
Goes by volume of water, dose according to the Emergency Dosage, it will do the trick. Seachem Prime is not known to kill shrimps at that dosage. One brand of anti-chlorine is known to harm beneficial bateria of filter, I am not too sure about Seachem Prime, so you may want to prepare a matured spare filter.
Anyway, I would advise you to go slow on the dosage, so far, at least 2 person has been sucessful on getting rid of hydra using anti-chlorine in shrimp tank.
