Last night I moved the mommy to a glass jar to treat the fungus or something growing on it's skin and I added methylene blue. Today I have babies, I just counted 25, but there's still some under the mommy's tail. They seem to be happy and searching for food. Here's some not so magnificent pictures :)

Next week I am going for a vacation, it kills me to leave my new babies alone for weeks (well, my mother is taking care of them and I am leaving detailed instructions). It's so fascinating to watch them develop. But well, I'm sure they will be able to do it without me staring at them all the time ;D

Hi Rain- I read about the fungus situation on your White Pearl shrimp in the other thread, that's sad to hear. Hope the mom recovers okay and also, that the shrimplets will be fine. :) Perhaps she'll molt soon and not have the fungus return. Let's hope so.
I think I read about the White Pearl shrimp in another forum, it was being referred to as the white bee shrimp, so I take it it's the same thing? They certainly are beautiful shrimp!

Uh, still can't post urls, makes this a bit harder :)
But, this one is named Neocaridina cf. zhangjiajiensis sp. "white perl" in wirbellose.de and it says there that this might be a mutation of Neocaridina denticulata. I sure hope it is and not a mutation of serrata group. I don't want these to crossbreed with my CRS.
And thanks for the good wishes for the mommy. I wold hate to lose her and others now when I finally have them. I suppose babies would be the first ones to go if there's an outbreak of fungus.
*fingers crossed*

Those pictures are sharp considering their sizes... :D:D
Anyway the babies are really cute looking, especially the last picture.. lol Hope they grow up well! Shouldn't be a problem under proper instructions... lol

Hi Rain, thanks for the clarification and the scientific name - I was able to find both the White Bee and the White Pearl on the German site and now see that they are two different species. I also noticed a picture of a female White Pearl with a white saddle, just like how Red Cherries have saddles, though the Cherries of course have yellow ones.
Looking back at your other picture posting (the one showing eggs just before the shrimplets hatched), I see that she has the developing white saddle, getting ready for her next brood. That's fascinating stuff! :2thumbsup
Marge, LOL! You're scaring the both of us.

I haven't seen many babies, but the ones I've seen are over 5 millimetres in size (hard to measure since they are in the bushes all the time) and active and happy :)
The mother died when I was treating the fungus (I don't think it was the treatment, methylene blue, that killed it, but the broken air pump and lack of oxygen). I am hoping there is both females and males in the offspring, but I will propably order some more adults anyway.

It's unlikely that the babies are all female or all male. You probably have a good mix of both. Survival is the biggest issue you have to tackle. Good luck!

Should not that difficult to have them survive. They are even more hardy than fire red shrimps. And as easy to breed.
