Hi all,
I will like to consult all the experience guys here. Me beginner. :D
I had recently fall in love with CRS. lol Bought about 15 pcs. One was pregrant for ~ 2 weeks oredi. I had 2 baby shrimplets that I got FOC from one of the shops. So far, all is doing ok.
I am keeping them in a 4 feet tank. I have cherry shrimps in it and they have breed and I have many shrimplets now.
Question: I am using 2 fans that cool the temp to 28-29 deg.C. After hearing all your experience, I am getting worry..... :(
I have recently female cherry shrimp dying after giving birth to the baby shrimps. Can anyone explain why? All my CRS are still ok.
Now, mi seriously thinking of buying a chiller to bring the temp to 25-26 deg.C. Anybody got advice where to buy a reasonable good chiller for 4 ft thank? Thanks in advance....
Cheers,
MitCo.....

Hi Bro,
Get one with slightly higher horse power so as not to stress the chiller.

Hello MitCo,
I am using an Arctica chiller 1/5 HP on my tank. Tank Dimensions: 122cm (L) x 61cm (W) x 76cm (H) or in inches 48 x 24 x 30. Plus using MH’s 360 watts.
There are some considerations that I believe that differentiate between one brand and another, the most common one is noise. Arctica are supposedly quieter than the rest and as everything is in my living room, this was a very important consideration.
I also keep my water temp at 80F/26.6 C [+/- 0.5], others with CRS might prefer a lower temp between 22- 25C. If this was the case then I doubt my 1/5 HP would handle that, but a 1/2 would. Fruitpie link to the calculator is useful.
When I was buying mine, people were talking that if you get an Arctica it would last many many years, extremely reliable, which is good as they are twice or 3 times as expensive. The other brands had some doubts, but this might be unfounded speculation.
However I can say that at aquarama, when I went there to talk to the Arctica people about getting chiller for a colleague they ignored me twice, which tells me something.... if they are not interested in you during the sale then they will definitely not be helpful afterwards.
The competition however was very helpful and their pricing was much cheaper so have a good look around
Rupert
