I thought I should introduce myself. I found this place when I was searching information about Crystal Reds and the grades and it looks like I am staying.

I'm 25, female, Finland. I've had aquariums for 15 years now, I'm interested mostly in planted tanks, invertebrates and bettas. I have now only Neocaridina palmata and (Neo)caridina 'Zeylanica', but I am getting other species soon. I haven't bothered trying to breed Zeylanica, but my N. palmatas have been more than willing to multiply and multiply :D

Well, I don't know what else to tell about myself so I will just show you pictures.

Hi and welcome to Shrimpnow.com!
It seems as if you have a pretty nice collection of apple snails. I saw blue ones, golden with blue foot, purple, normal ones etc. . If you can take a picture of each color we could write together a pretty nice article for the species section. I'm looking for pictures because I stopped keeping them a long time ago. So I have only a few pictures of them, not enough to write an article because I do not even have a picture of the normal brown color.
Could you please share with us some experiences with your Neocaridina palmata? I guess outside of Europe they should be pretty unknown. I kept them myself for a short time but I got no offspring. So I wasn't able yet to write about them. I would appreciate your help a lot!

Best regards

Robert

Thank you all for the warm welcome :)

I do have a sister for that betta, but I haven't had room to spawn them. I have had my hands full of apple snail and shrimp babies for a long time now. I'm just enjoying my bettas and I think they are starting to be too old for breeding too. Need to get younger ones when I have time (if I have time ever again, that is).

I think I have, uhm, 11 different color variations of apple snails now. Those ones in the picture are from the second generation I've bred. I have written about my babies in applesnail.net forum, the topics are My first clutches and My youngsters.

I would be happy to share my experiences and take pictures (I think I have some of the N. palmatas too in my picture cd:s) just as soon as I finish these articles I've been writing. I'll PM you then right away :)

Hi there,

Wow you sure have a wonderful collection of snails? Are those natural colors? I am begining to like snails .... well except those mystery snails that swarms in hundreds lol .

Thanks :)

The colours come from selective breeding, just like Crystal Red shrimps colour etc. Pomacea bridgesii is such a nice species, they are pretty and don't do usually any damage to live plants (my babies do munch on some plants when I keep hundreds of them in a same tank and they feel hungry, but adults don't do that) or other occupants. And there won't be suddenly hundreds of apple snails if you don't want to since they lay their eggs above the water surface and they are easy to remove. And there's the biggest problem of apple snails too, they (mostly females) climb above the water and if there isn't a tight lid they will climb out and most likely hurt themselves.

Hi rain,

I like your betta and the snails. They are colorful. I am into betta also. Currently keeping the Platinum Plakat breeding pair and a Delta male.

Perhaps, we can exchange the betta in future.

Oh, I didn't notice your post :/

You have really beautiful pair there. I wish we could exchange, but unfortunately it costs a fortune to send a package from Finland to almost anywhere in the world :/

I am now dreaming of Suthasine Gold Halfmoons, I wish I could get a pair of them from their breeder :)
