i just set up a 29gallon tank about 4 weeks ago with ADA arizonia 2 soil.:bs_help:

my ph is 6 after a 1/3 water change( i want it at 6.5)
i am using 100% tap water instead of the usual 50% tap 50% RO.
this is to try to raise the ph. my tap water is about 7-7.5

there are no shrimp in my tank yet but i want to introduce them as soon as my ph is under control.

thx:undecided

Maybe put sea shells in the tank, or crushed coral in your filter?

I'd just go for pure tap water changes until you get where you want. Letting coral leach is more difficult to find a stable balance.
you put no CO2 right?

it takes a few weeks for the pH to come up. Just keep up with the water changes and it will eventually stabilize. Don't do anything drastic. It's all part of the cycling process, have patience.

Hi fishcop444
I faced the same problem here. Have been changing water (5%) almost everyday for the past one week for 25L tank. My tap water is 7.4, after changing the water the ph rise to 6.6 for that day and the next day drop back to 5.8. One shrimp will die the next day after changing water. However, another tank 50L is able to keep the ph value after changing the water.
The 25L tank include some shrimplets but they all seems ok so far. Still need to keep changing water untill ph able to rise to 6.5 and stable??? Anyone has the same problem and any solution????

From what i know and i had been using this gavel for about a year + the ph was keep very low around 6 non matter how much water i change??
