While one part of the world wants CRS to be more white, the other part wants it to be more red. Hobbyists in Germany has gotten rid of white bars on Crystal Red Shrimps to form pure red shrimps.

I don't think so, the closest I saw was there were a few transparent lines on red body.

For these, they look like Grade C for the trend that prefer white, so the good news is it ought to me cheap. :)

I look like that white is complete lost and transparent. I think the C-grade which the white is not so much and will became the FULL red CRS.

hmm, I think I prefer the super red cherries and hawaiian red shrimps to this red bee shrimp. The CRS is so pretty because of its contrast of white and red, dun you think?

Do you mean Opae Ula ? At first look, I thought they are Opae Ula. These CRS color is not thick enough, but they managed to get rid of the transparent lines which appears in Grade C. Hope that they can refine it over few generations and not run into other defects.

Nice indeed. But the signature of being white & red stripe is gone,
an enhanced version of "red cherry shrimps"

hmm it is unique in it's own way compared to the hawaiin and cherry :) although i think it looks very much like the hawaiin..
with comparison to normal CRS, i prefer thsoe with white bands, it is the contrast that makes this breed beautiful man!

Personally I like them the way they were with the white band. To me the white bands make the red more pronounce. :o

I think CRS with white and red looks better than red. Well, this is only preference. Red CRS might be nice also, but still seeing CRS in a tank with different white banding and red will be more fun.

hi ,
I love the red and white band type. Not forgetting the black and white also.. :D
But i saw those with pure white body and juz a red dot on the head. Is that a freak :freak: or a superSTAR :stars: It is an eye opener
cheers

It's an eyeopener AND a superSTAR! lol :kiss2: Very elegant.
I like many types and colors of shrimp, but have to agree with some of you that having all red on CRS is unnecessary and I would prefer the Red Cherries to have that job.

Hello from Germany,
Farschad is right. Nobody wants the pure red CR in Germany any more. Some people tried to breed and as they had success nobody wanted these sort. Most people are interested in S-Grade now but itīs at the beginning for this Grade in Germany. The prices wonīt get as high as in Japan (about 10 ).
At the moment black tigers are mostly expensive here (10 to 20 ).
Best regards

Welcome to the forum, Frank.
From what I see, in Japan, S grade is very common now and people there are breeding SS grade and aiming for Hinomaru grade. It is quite easy to achieve S grade as the genes is there from better breeding stock of SS or higher, even though, the price of entry level S grade there is about 15 at the moment.
Heard that black tiger is very fragil, is it true? Would like to lay my hands on those black beauties.

Hello retardo,
sorry but i only post my own photos and iīm not allowed to write an url.
My normal tigers have red/brown stripes
I also have blue tigers like att.
Hello fruitpie,
the normal prices here are from 5 to 12 . Itīs a problem that nobody has enough to sell. Thatīs the same with bees. Somebody has the idea to say "Queen" to CRS with much white. That does not mean S-Grade !!! For us it is already much white with A-Grade but we are working on it. There were some 100s imported from Japan some weeks ago. Should be S. Hope to get some :D
As far as i know black tigers can be a little bit difficult. A friend of me has about 30 pcs. and no problems so far. Others have bought 10-20 and they were all dead after a couple of weeks.
With the blue ones i have no problems at all but not all the breed is blue.

Hello,
@fruitpie
keeping and breeding from the "Black Tiger" is the same as normal Tiger, i have no problems in breeding by 170-250 ms (Mikrosiemens), 23°C and pH 6,5-7,0

I have found this old thread in the archives and was wondering who is breeding CR on red color? Besides, I want to know if anybody has more info on so called 'Super Crystal Red' and the breeders behind. Are this selected CR or crossbred species? Pictures of the SCR can be found on this blog (http://crusta.de/garnelen/14066_14066).

dear Imke
Superred cristals are no crossbreeds,I have breeder who is breeding CRS since years, and only his own strain,no other shrimps and no crossbbred with other strains.
Thatīs why I am quite shure that they are not cross products.

Could "Super Crystal Reds" simply come from selectively breeding low grade shrimp to obtain a solid red as opposed to going the other route (more white)? I speculated this and originally thought Red Ruby/Wine Red and Panda/King Kong were derived this way. In theory, over several generations you could develop a pure strain that will produce a red shrimp with white patches.

I think I agree with some others, I'd prefer the fire red RCS instead of these faded CRS. :p

Hope you dont get my question wrong Imke, but why is it that you always think of crossbreeding the last month:D
Im just curious cause you mentioned something similar on your blog about the CB on bidders which is also no product of an crossbreeding.

@Tobias: I had no information on this SCR, that's why I wanted to know more (I did not mention my blog here, don't know what it's got to do with it...)

Thats why i said "i hope you dont get my question wrong";)
I know that your blog has nothing to do with SN, thats not the point. Just wondered why you think of an crossbreed first. You did the same with an Blue Bee picture from Novina, just curious about that. Maybe i just want to say, that not everything looking abnormal is something new:D

Not really. Selectively breeding for red might still be difficult and you might not getting many all-red ones. Limited production means higher price.
