Are petrified wood rocks safe for shrimp?

I'm wondering if petrified wood rocks are considered safe for shrimp?

I think it's ok but somehow shrimps die when you put new decorations in the tank including some kind of drift woods.

I have some in one of my tanks with no ill effects, but as mentioned some rocks are not safe and if they contain metals etc. can harm your shrimp. Agates are safe and petrified wood is Agate.
