wow wow wow. Amazing!
I wish I have only 1/10 of your CRSs.
But, I think you will soon think of breeding high grade CRSs, right?
Nice day!

Thanks.
There are about 300 plus in the tank.
I started with 30 CRS and the population had grown to about 500 plus after half a year of hard work.
Actually I got another 2 ft tank at home, which are the off-spring of the office tank.

Thanks for your interest in my tank.
The water temp is about 25 degree.
- 300 grade B-A CRS
- external canister filter Eheim 2213 with surface skimmer.
- ADA Amazonia II.
- Christmas moss on driftwood and stone.
- feed with Shirakura.
- 20-30% water change weekly.
For me ADA Amazonia II make a great different in my CRS tank.

Thanks a lot Taz. Especially for your note of ADA Amazonia II. You set up your office tank first, and your home tank later? Did you have any problem in transfering CRSs from office to your house? Do you notice any difference of your CRSs breeding rates in these 2 tanks? Do you have any plan to upgrade your CRSs?

Hi Phuongmy,
You are right, I done the office tank first then my home tank.
As for transfer of CRS from office to home, I didn't face an problem, but I do noticed the breeding rate is a bit slow , maybe it take some time for it to adopt to the new environment.
Yes I am moving to higher grade one, but need to sell some of the baby to get some fund.

U change the water ....every week? And the PH still remain 6.5.
As for my tank ....if I change the water every week, the PH will slowly move up and within 6 mnth is will be 6.8:(
Then my CRS will start look unheathy and slow in movement then clour change and lastly DIA.:(

I guess the pH is also related to the pH of the tap water in your area. The pH of the water from my tap is 6.0 and I do daily 2-5% water changes and the pH of my water in the shrimp tank is consistently at 6.0. The shrimps are doing fine and I have quite a few shrimplets and pregnant females.....:)

Wow! nice amount of shrimp you have there..what do you think would be the max amount of shrimp that tank could hold?
Taz
20th Jun 2008, 06:56 PM
The tank is holding 300 +, and the breeding rate is getting slower, so I guess it about the max.

My office tank's temp is set at 22 degrees. It that too cold for breeding? Also 1 bro told me that CO2 reduces breeding of the CRS. Can anyone advise?

What light set are u using for your 2 ft tank? I am also on a 2 ft tank. But i am using 24 W PL. Experiencing a bit of BBA. Sigh. Maybe I need to plant more moss in future.
Taz

I am using a 55W 2 ft PL light.

This has to be the most number of shrimps that I have ever seen in a single time. Your filteration has to be superb to hold all that livestock.

I'd love a large copy of that photo of all your CRS - to make it my desktop background.
That is amazing!

Hey Taz, the shrimp are amazing! Since they are breeding so quickly, generation after generation, have you ever considered selectively breeding them to get them higher grade? Most recommend starting out with higher grades because it takes so long, but with your fast reproduction cycle, it doesn't seem like it would take that long to get at least a step or to up on the grading scale.

Sad to say after I shifted my office, I torn down the setup, sold most of the shrimps and move some better one back home. But due to high temp (~26-27 degree) the reproduction cycle is much slower.
Will try to post my home setup later.
