I have read on one site that it is about 3 weeks for crystal reds. I currently have three pregnant females in the tank. The first one is already pregnant for 25 days. I hope the babies will hatch soon, I am checking on them every night, the wait is killing me.

Based on one case alone, from the time I noticed that the CRS was pregnant (noticable eggs) to birth, it took 30 days. Assuming that you also started counting from the time you noticed the eggs, it will be hatching soon.

The general rule is 3-4 weeks (28 days) from time of fertilization to hatch, but there really isn't a hard number. I think heat is a contributing factor to how soon they will hatch tho. I posted in a previous post (I don't recall if it was here or another forum) that the gestation period was longer in an unheated tank v. one that is heated. The heated tank (~78d F) followed the norm at roughly 4 weeks. In an unheated tank at room temp (between 68d F and 72dF), the gestation period was 5-6 weeks. Both amanos got eggs at about the same time. There may be other factors that affect it, but this is one I'm sure of.

For CRS at 25C, it takes 24 days to hatch. If water temperture is lower, the days will be longer.

Remember to wrap filter inlet to prevent shrimplets getting into filter. :)

I know when it got pregnant within hours(the eggs transferred from head into abdomen) :). My tank temp is around 25C, so should be any time now. The eggs are almost transparent in one of the shrimp, indicating it is almost ready I guess. Thanks for the info guys.
