View Full Version : Water parameters affected by fan?

Hi, everyone, I have recently started using a fan for my CRS tank. I was just wondering since there's constant evaporation of water from the tank when using a fan, does the water parameters changes? especially with regards to GH or KH or even ph?
Let's say if someone just top up the water all the time without doing partial water changes do the parameters change?
For me, I always do a small partial water change when I top up the water because of the above-mentioned concerns. Up to now I have not noticed any change in my parameters.
Any views anyone?

I don't tink so, I've been using fans for a few months and everything seems okay.:D

If you donīt change water at all it becomes harder over the time because the hardness stays in the tank.
Thatīs a slow process and your tap water is quite soft so far I know.
I would keep an eye on the hardness every 3rd month or so.

Thanks Frank! Yep I kind of suspect that hardness will stay in the water thats why I change a few percent of water each time I top up the water. I will continue to monitor the GH and KH every few months or so as you recommended. :D
