How do I make a moss lawn?
I'm eager to make one.

I usually spread the moss out really thin and place it where I want it on the substrate. Then I just use bits and pieces of gravel to hold it in place. Eventually after about two weeks the moss will have attached itself to the rest of the substrate. Once it is growing well you will have to cut it with scissors to keep it a proper length and prevent it from getting to compacted. When Java moss grows to thick it begins to brown.
If you are wanting to attach it to something I use either twist ties from garbage bags or fishing line to tie it down.

you sure you want one? Moss in my opinion grows a little weird for a lawn effect and hard to manage.
If you want a lawn effect you should probably go with HC or glosso. Riccia lawn affect is accomplished by weighing down with stainless steel mesh.
You can make a moss wall by sandwiching it between plastic cross stitch grids you can buy at a crafts store. A probably better use of moss in my opinion.
As sstimac mentioned you can attach moss to rocks and drift/bogwood with fishing line.
Another neat idea I found online was to unravel one of those cheap loofahs. Then place the moss on a stone/rock and cover it with the unraveled loofah and zip tying it at the bottom of the rock. To make a moss, riccia, or pellia rock.
Hope this helps and good luck!

back to that lawn, if u have some metal screan or plastic, just put the moss under it and keep some gravel over the corners of it to hold it down. then just wait

I think the easiest way to do a moss lawn is to sandwich moss between two sheets of stainless steel mesh. when you need to trim the moss, it can be removed from the tank all at once, without much mess.
