Covering filter

i was told to cover the filter to avoid the shrimplets being sucked inside the filter. i tried. However, i noticed, all the dirt are stuck on the fishnet which i used to cover filter. only a few days later, it seems totally block the filter, so not much water can get into, thus the filter can not function porperly. How do your guys solve this problem?

The tip with a net is given often but you see the problem.
Simply use a sponge filter.
