View Full Version : My first attempts on shrimps - 2 1ft tanks.

Greeting to all,

Shrimps are so cute and addictive so I have decide to setup 2 tanks in my office. Feel free to comments on the setups.

Setup #1:
1 Ft with Black Gravel.
Filtration: Airstone inside momotaro block.
Flora: Taiwan Moss, Flame Moss, Algae Ball, Eared Water Moss
Fauna: 40+ RCS (XL Cherries, Sakuras, Cheapo), 2x Butterfly Loaches

Setup #2:
1 Ft with Coloured Gravel.
Filtration: 2x Sponge Filters.
Flora: Taiwan Moss, Flame Moss, Algae Ball, Eared Water Moss, Hornwort
Fauna: 60+ Rainbow (Malayans, Greens, Blues), 1x Butterfly Loaches

Really nice pics, yes :) I like your tanks too, I think they will look very good indeed when the mosses have covered all the white stones. But I don't like the grey pipes you have in there, they are a pity I think...

For the last 2 weeks, I have shrimps dying everyday. I check all parameters of the water and everything was fine ... however, during the resetting of the tank, I found the cause ... A DAMSELFLY NYMPH!

After removing the predator, everything when back to normal and I reintroduce some "hanks" to replace thoese RIP ones.

The moment I put the hanks in, they started to "harass" the saddled girls for 2hrs. Unfortunately, I did not have video cam with me to capture the moment.

in the 2# set up are you using lava rocks??
i have seen them before in petstores ...tempted to buy them.... but i resist
do they realease anything???
like toxic stuff?

Wow, very nice setups blackmanta7117! Can you tell me what are those shrimps in your tank set up #2? Especially the last picture with the blackish colour shrimp.... are they malayan shrimp? :cheesy:

I have used lava rock in the past and have had no problems with it.
