Hi guys and gals,

Due to cash constrain, My options are rather restricted....

Anyway, I've recently got an offer to purchase a pre-loved marine chiller. Is it possible to thoroughly clean out a marine one into a fresh water chiller for crs?

What's the process of doing that? Or is it better to send it for service center?

Thanks in advance... :)

I just found some information which says that I could actually have the chiller flushed out by a professional..... hooray :cheesy:

Has anyone ever flushed their chiller? Is it safe for crs?

May I know what's the cost like for such a service in Singapore? Is Bioplast the only one in the East side to do servicing for chillers?

u can do flushing yourself save the hassle..
get a pail full of water and a powerhead submerged inside the water attached with hose that connect to chiller inlet and another hose for outlet.. run for few mins will do.. to be safe, run for 5 mins and go for another run of tap water..

You should also be able to use vinegar (A good weak acid) to try and kill any nasties as well as knock down stuff that's built up. The vinegar will rinse out nicely with fresh water.

What is ration of vinegar use? 100%

I've heard of this method because crs is so hyper sensitive, I don't really dare to use to.

I'm not saying to run vinegar through it with tank water. I'm saying put vinegar in a bucket and use a powerhead to run the vinegar through the chiller. Then use water to rinse it out.

I too use the vinegar method. Used fresh water 1st, only for a while then 100% of vinegar, but only maybe 500ml, after which I mixed some vinegar into a pail of water and let it run for 5mins.

Then use a 100% fresh water and run it through the chiller's pipe for 10mins to make sure all the vinegar is cleared.

You'll noticed that initially, some debris of sand will be flushed out.
