Thank for the pictures, Farschad.
The eggs look very delicious to me :D , as they resemble a type of food known as fish balls (minced fish fillet and shaped into a shape of like table tennis ball) over here.
What the maximum size of Cambarellus Patzcuarensis? How long does it live? And any special diet for proper development of its exoskeleton?

Hi Farschad,
the pictures are really great! Thanks for sharing them with us! By the way, how many offspring will she have soon? There seem to be many big eggs. I wonder how many little crayfishes will hatch out of them.
best regards

What do these crayfish eat? I use to have some crayfish when I lived in Hong Kong, I bought them from wet market. Well they use to hide during the day and eat my fish at night.

Hi Rupert,
these little crayfish (maximum size 4cm) are relatively peaceful to fishes and feed mainly on rotten leaves (e.g. oak), bloodworms, live or frozen artemia, daphnia etc., so they are scavengers which like live carnivorous food. A friend of mine keeps them in a planted tank and they do not eat his healthy plants.
They prefer carnivorous meals, so to keep them with shrimps is not a good idea because they would eat shrimplets if they can catch them. BTW, the different Cambarellus species behave differently in this case, some are more shrimp-friendly than others.

Thanks Robert,
We have a few sorts of crayfish, the small blue crayfish look good. I will have to do some research on them.
All of the crayfish I have seen have large claws which tells me that they like to use them, and whilst they might seem slow during the day at night they seem to get faster.
Freshwater crabs might be better? If I remember correctly there is a Indonesian or Malaysian freshwater, vegetarian crab that can spend it entire lifecycle immerse... I will try and find some more information on this and put it in another thread

they are very nice to keep except they will move ur plants ard sometimes! so best kept with only wood i guess..
and one more thing.. they are cannibals! they will attack other lobsters which are moulting....

anyway do take note freshwater crayfish like marrons can grow large too... like 8-9inches.. :)
and its best to keep in species tank with LOTS of hiding places.. they care cannibals and fight alot..

Sorry to hear about that. So in the end, how did the babies die? Eaten by their mommy? Do you keep a breeding pair? Cheers! And try for another batch! :)

It would also be great if we could exchange the crays! I do keep quite a number of crays. But mostly of the procambarus family. :) Though I guess it would cost both of us a bomb for airfreight! :embarasse

That's a nice cray you have, Farschad. ;)
Crayfishes from the Cambarellus family are generally not quite available at my location here in Singapore. Nice and cute they are, how I wish to have a few of them. :)
BTW are there any special conditions this species need to survive in an aquarium tank environment?

That sounds like a good idea conceptually, we will just have to find some way to make it financially feasible. ;)
We do have a couple of crayfishes from the Cherax family, apart from the Procambarus family. Never hurts to have more! :)

Thanks bro Walter. I only have a modest collection only, still hoping you guys can help me add more! ;)
Appears that the gallery isn't quite working, or is it just me?
Anyway let me arrange the pics a bit and perhaps can share with you guys soon. :)
