Hi guys,
my Crystal shrimps are lossing their white colors..turning to clear. I don't think they are stress...their red stripes are really intense and bright, but the white stripes are fading. They are also breeding in the process.. What could be the cause? Is the feeding of algae walffer or flake a problem for this fading of white colors? Any help will be great...
Thanks alot,
Huaj

This is an big problem here in the Netherlands also! The fading white colors is now being studied by some members of the Dutch shrimp and crayfish forum. It's still not clear why, but there are some factors that we think is important in maintaining the white strong. Some factors are calcium/magnesium and ultra-violet lighting (daylight). But that's not the solution we think, so more brainstorming and testing is needed. Any suggestions can help, so I'm also curious for more answers... :D

Food, genes, environment and evolution. A good example is the human hair. Baldness. Food, genes, environment, growing up??? Thus getting those with good genes is the finest solution.. And to provide them a environment that will not cause the problem.

Hi all, can you recommend the best environment for them. Is this just clean, soft, acidic water at a cool tmperature?

Hey guys,
I threw some niece Diomond Shrimps to my big 200L tank with some little L66 and a few Paracheirodons. Waterparameters are the same as in the tanks before, algae might be enough but although at least 3 are carrying eggs, many of them lost their beautiful colour, not only the white, also the black isn't that nice than before :(

yup, how big were they when you got them? Have they gotten much bigger. The whites tend to fade on lower grade shrimp as they get bigger.
