Hello all,
This is my first post. I am planning to add shrimps (cherry and CRs) to my planted tank. The tank has been cycled for 2 months and I recently added Flourish tabs (Seachem) to the substrate. Will these root tabs kill my shrimps? Flourish tabs contain 0.001% of copper.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I do not have specific experience with Flourish tabs but it is good to reduce the dosage of all fertiser shrimp tank.

Low level of copper may not be harmful to shrimps. I used to use Seachem Traces at reduced dosage on shrimp tank, the shrimps were fine.

Hi Fruitpie,
Thank you for the reply. I have stem plants in that tank and many of them rely heavily on fertilizers. Will shrimps be OK with <5mg/L of nitrates? Especially, CRs, will they tolerate this level of nitrates?
Thanks again for your help.

i think you have to cycle for more time since you added extra fertilizers again. any fert leak will kill shrimps.

maybe you can try some cheap shrimps in there first to test the water. anyway you are planning to add CRS does this means you have some source? maybe you can share with other USA members :)

5mg/l of nitrate is prefectly ok for shrimps such as crystal red shrimps.

Yes, Walter, you can get CRs in the states. They are pretty pricey. $4 USD a piece and shipping is $30 USD.

Fruitpie, thanks for the repy. I will try cherry shrimps first before I add CRs to the tank. I feel like I am preparing a nursery for my children!
