The temperature here in LA is going to rise soon. How are you guys fanning your tanks?
Last summer I rigged up two DC 12V fans per tank and that kept the temp. down. I also use an electronic temp contol to switch the fans when the temp drops to 76.
This system works well but I'm trying to find a good way to replanish the lost water. In one of the tanks I installed a float switch that controls water flow from a water tank using gravity feed. Since I use RO water I'm not worried about raising the hardness of the water.
How are you guys handling that?
Thanks for any suggestions :)

Sounds like you have a hassle free system. Is the system a DIY or you purchased off the shelve? Do your fans are switch on when temperature below or above 76F?
I use fans and chiller for different tanks. Just have to top up with any water lost, not too worry about water hardness here, our TDS is about 50ppm only.

You're lucky! My tap water has a TDS of 280ppm! :veryangry

I put this system together myself. I have too many tanks to buy chillers for all of them :p
My fan turns on after the temp reaches 76F then turns off after the temp drops back down to 76F.

What's the TDS of your tank water with the use of RO water?
You are lucky to resolve the temperature problem just with fans, we need chillers. :D
What's the different in TDS between water directly from tap and boiled? Any idea?

The weather nowdays is getting hotter especially at night.
I realised that 3 of my tanks temp increase from 26.5 DC to 28 DC. So didnt see any crs or diamond stress over the temp.
How about you guys?
Ps: i start sweating whenever i left the fan. Thats how warm the room temp is for me.(32-34 deg maybe)

What is the humidity there in SG? It's going to be really hot and humid when I go to HK in June!
Here in LA we have dry heat so using a fan to cool off the tank water works really well. We have about 5 months of hot weather that requires fanning the tank.

There is a sudden increase in evaporation as i notice from my tanks. My guess is its hot and dry currently in singapore. But i reckon it's getting more humid down the road. Even if its dry in singapore, its still humid for you i guess due to the weather differences. :D
I have been staying in australia for 2 years and took me 3 months to get use to the "humid" singapore weather again. :p

I think so! It's so dry here that my laundry dries up in a couple of hours max. :)
You were in AU? Did you go fish collecting and scuba diving? I always wanted to go there but never got the chance to.

I am staying in Melbourne....not gold coast lolz. Nay i did'nt busy with Projects and stuff at that time. If you are looking for scuba you should try gold coast but i don't think you will be able to collect anything from the reefs the rangers are watching lol and they have strict regulations regarding removing livestocks i heard. So far I did'nt see any nice exotic fresh water shrimps over there because i could only find 1 fish shop in melbourne on Victoria Market.
