Hi kross,
congratulations and good luck! She will carry the eggs for about 4 weeks before the young shrimplets hatch. Then will be the most difficult part at all: the first 2-3 days. Most CR shrimplets die in this time if the parameters are not optimal. I breed this species for years now but still have a low survival rate because the chemical parameters of my water are not optimal (it's too hard and the ph is to high but chemicals to get the right parameters won't be good for the shrimplets, so better a low survival rate in sub-optimal conditions than no survival rate with "good" parameters).
regards and good luck!
Robert

What's your water temperature, kross? Incubation period varies according to temperature, 21 to 25 days.

Shrimp love nest! Way cool! Now I just need my female CRS to be in mood. Last night I watched a female molt last night but no eggs! All the male shrimps were going nuts trying to mount any shrimp and everything in sight....how frustrating to be a guy shrimp in my tank :P
Anyways it was so cool watching my shrimp molt. It's so much like the shrimp simply took off a clear jacket! Only took 5 secs and it's all over :)

just need to wait..... it'll happen. :D
btw, there's one thing that i've observed about crs getting pregnant. right before u see them carrying eggs for the 1st time, it will "disappear" for 1 to 2 days.... for mine, both pregnant shrimps disappeared for 2 days and on the 3rd day, i saw them came out for food and carrying eggs! lol
oh...the male shrimps going nuts trying to "sit on" any shrimp is a very good sign!! that's what mine did before my shrimps got pregnant shrimps! :)
good luck!!
