did a test over the weekend with my 2 feet tank. sticked compressed foam on 3 sides of the tank (back and 2 sides). with 35 watt light and an extra fan to help with the cooling of the tank.

the main purpose is to get to the temperature suitable for CRS to live in.

    Result:
Regardless of weather, hot or cool, rain or shine, the water temperature maintained between 25 and 26. even had a bit of morning sun for the plants.

so i guess i can start transferring my crs to a bigger tank now.

I just receive knock-down TEM chiller. Tested with no flowing water. Temperature can hit 9 degree.

I have also done an experiment with a single 50W TEC DIY chiller on 20L tank, as shown in the picture. The lighting is 2 x 18W PL. I do not use fan in this experiment.

The water temperature is around 25-27C, depending on the room temperature. Normally the room temperature is around 30C-32C. That's good enough for CRS.

How can we build this ourselves? Is it safe to have people around the unit?

    Thank you

Sure. I did it myself. You just need to find some suitable box or probably custom build a box, water inlet and outlet connector, 2 heat sink, a DC fan, TEC, normal PC power supply and some water hose. Assemble them togather accordingly and that's it.

If build the unit carefully, it is safe. Remember ! Power supply is dangerous if not handle carefully.

    Nice set-up!!

Would like to ask some questions, hope u can assist me along:
    1) How does the water move from inlet to outlet?? using a pump??
    2) Ur set-up is indirect form of cooling.. Wonder whether direct cooling (place direct into the tank water) is better or indirect??Any idea how to attach it directly to my 1.5ft cube tank. I wishes to cool the temperature down for my crs tank..
