    Question Filters and water flow

Hey, I'm still kind of new to the whole shrimp thing. I've read that you can use a HOB filter if you cover the intake with nylon stockings, which is what I'm doing for two fo my 10g tanks. I'm using a Marineland Penguin Biowheel 100 on both of them. However when the filters are on, they make the water move through the tank so fast that my shrimp don't seem to like it. They cling to my driftwood and cholla wood and don't move around the tank much, whereas when I've tried turning off the filter, the water is much more still and the shrimp swim around and explore the whole tank looking for food. What should I do? Switch to a sponge filter?

I you cannot reduce the current, another filter might be good. Sponge filters are all shrimp safe, and if you chose a big double sponge (f.e. from Dolphin) with air pump, that should work.

I think I'm going to switch to a sponge filter, but in the mean time, how could I reduce the current?

Raise your water level inline with the outflow, or put a sponge where the outflow is and that should slow it down

I am going to run a sponge filter because its safe and the simplest filter for shrimp it seems like.
