Some of the juvenile shrimps are now beginning to turn dark brown. Others are still pale while others and even show the stripe pattern of the Caridina babaulti striped.

I have taken a couple of pictures of the same black adult shrimps that my friend is keeping.

I was surprised to see that these shrimps are now much more lightly coloured. They have turned almost purple. Hope the pictures help to identify to which species they belong.

The first picture shows how dark these shrimps were in the beginning. The other 3 show some recent pictures of the same shrimp.
Actually they do look like Neocaridina heteropoda!!

This is my black shrimp. it strangely changes color from time to time.
its red and black in this photo.
when I bought them, they were sold in orange, red and black .
the red ones look similar to cherry shrimps.. but they look more like malayan shrimps.. with the golden line across the back. I can't find them in my LFS anymore though.

Actually, I think they may be cherries. My tank has had yamato (amano) and cherry (normal red ones). My yamatos died long ago but my cherries kept going. Over time, the population went to this color.

Not the best photo, but these were just pulled from my tank. The dark ones really are that dark (a chocolate brown)
