    Gillu: I got them in the size young but ready-to-breed, after 1 week, I had 4 or 5 berried females.

    what is the size of the shrimp when it is ready to breed? ~1.5cm?

    Yes, 1.5 or larger. The females already had saddles when arriving.

    @Koji: that is the female I like the best. Once I have a bigger group, I will targeted mate for reds (and red legs).

    Did some water testing:

    pH 7.2
    NO3 5-10

    I really like to get the nitrate lower as I have some brown brush algae and green hair algae and will try feeding less first.

    The tank is 25C at the moment, as we have some hot summer days. Would prefer 23 C, and added an air stone.

    Update:

    I have lost one berried female, I guess it was a) perhaps stressed by dancing males or b) O2 level have been too low on the hot days. Besides, I have 20-30 growing juveniles of different batches in the tank and two already berried - again.

    Hopefully, everything will be okay next week as I am going on vacation: YEAH !

    Have you tried having some amazon frogbits in there?
