A part of my Tiger group has moved to the new, big tank and is doing fine. Besides, a little ancistrus female joined them. I added Bio CO2 recently and turned on the air for the UGF. The canister is running as usual. I also added a bag with zeolite and some local tree leaves into the tank.

Today was the measurement day; here are my water parameter:
    • ph 7.2-7.4
    • GH 8
    • KH 4
    • NO3 10
    • 23 degree C

    May tap water comes with
    • pH 7.5
    • GH 15
    • KH 12
    • NO3 5-10

I cannot measure ms at the moment; have to calibrate my Hanna Combo.

I have several berried female and offspring setting in the former 20L Tetra. I will use it to mate the mom's with my best male shrimp. Offspring will put into the big tank on the top when it has reached a certain size.

Very nice setup and shrimps, Imke!

Sidenote: Just do not forget to clean the Zeolithe off bacteria regulary. Bacteria are a WAY larger than the microscopic structure of the Zeolithe wich is responsible for the ion exchanging processes within in Zeolithe stones. Zeolithe covered with bacteria is much less efficent. Thats why some folks (mainly those seawater nerds) are using self cleaning Zeolithe filter systems. Check youtube for an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtrCpWyVFIg

If you whake the net containing the Zeolithe every day for some minutes ... it will fit.

Hi Marcus, thanks for the very useful hint. Normally, I put the zeolithe in my external canister. Had to use it quickly last time - that's why I just throw it into the tank. As somebody well informed: What do you think about re-generating zeolithe with salt? Does it work or is it better to buy new media?

Hello Imke, I never regenerated Zeolithe before. I only used it two times in two new tanks. It is for sure much less expensive if you are recylcle it. Cheers, Marcus

Hi Elisa, I guess this Tiger are a mixture. Some of them are bluish. I'll do selection after I have a larger group to chose from.
