They will do the jobs well.
these will attack the apple snails, and once a while they will catch a shrimp too., but mostly will be the weakest shrimps

i had a massive snail problem in both my tanks. my barbs soon sorted them out in the tropical tank, they like to bash them open on rocks and get to the juicey bits.
in my shrimp tank, i just use a little shrimp net and net any out i can see, and feed them to my barbs!
if you do this for a few weeks, once a day just remove the ones on the glass, and ones u can see, then you should notice a drop in snails. at least i have.

I agree with the others Assassin snails are is one way to go. But i took out mine because they ate all my shrimp eggs -_-. Too many pond snails usually indicate overfeeding.

You can try assassin snails. They eat pond snails and other pest snails like ramshorns and MTS.
    But one problem.
They DO eat the pond snails, but sometimes they dont go for the pond snails.
Sometimes they'll go for the shrimp.
But if there's a lot of pond snails, they'll probably not go for the shrimp.
