Default Newly Introduced CRS not feeding?

    hello,

I have recently introduced a few CRS to a new tank setup as its first inhabitants.

It is fully cycled and the water stats are:

    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate<5
    pH 6.6
    temp. 22C

It has been one day since i have acclimatized them into the aquarium. Today i placed a few granules of shrimp food into the aquarium but none of the shrimp seemed interested. After 2 hours without being touched i removed them from the aquarium. I thought to try another source of food and my friend reccomended boiled carrots so i placed a thin slice of carrot into the aquarium but the shrimp still took no interest.

Is this normal behaviour for newly introduced shrimp and will their apetite come back after time?

    thanks

    Hi there,

shrimps can be spoilt a little bit. In my experience, they sometimes need time to get used to new kind of food, so asked the seller what he did feed. I would not worry to much - perhaps try spirulina powder or some high quality shrimp food.

    Good luck!

they have very good sense of smell. If they want to eat the food they will swarm it in minutes like those clips on youtube.

In a new tank, they may prefer algae and other layers growing inside the tank. When this runs out, they will go for commercial food.

If you tank is large and has only a few shrimp, they will ignore commercial food.

Of course, your tank need to have good water condition so that they have appetite to eat in the first place.

When i first got my CRS , they behaved the same way, I dropped in a pellet of Shirakura and they just ignored it, also they used to hide a lot.

I just left them alone, after about 3 days i dropped another pellet and within like 5 min they were swarming the pellet ..... What a sight

So i would say just give them some time to settle down and you should see a difference within a few days.

By the way .... what food are you feeding them?
    Regards

also it take time for them to get use to the new place
Gust make sure the tank parameters are stable
and it wont take long time for them to start eating
