    i got some snails today that i havent heard of before call red dotted snails and i was wondering if they eat plants. hopefully they dont because i put them in my planted tank..

    Oh...this one. Its ok, plant save. I have it before, it will not eat your plant, neither do their breed.

    It's a Nerite snail. As Flashout says, it won't eat plants. It will lay eggs in fresh water (a lot – mainly on bog wood, given the chance) but they won't hatch. In brackish water they will hatch, but go through several planktonic stages before becoming baby snails. The chances of raising them are remote to just about non-existant. They prefer hard water to acidic. Lots of different shell patterns, and lovely snails. Good luck with them...
