Default Anyone use Bottled Purified drinking water for CRS tank ?

Newbie question to CRS. My 1st post.

Anyone use Bottled Purified drinking water for CRS tank ?

I have set-up low light planted tank consisting mainly of crypts, java fern and lots of taiwan moss for more than 4 weeks now. Planning to add CRS before the end of the week. Temp. is consistent at 23 deg C. It is a 10 gallon tank with 2 HOB filters. Only inhabitants now is cherry shrimp who is breeding in the tank. Substrate is a thin layer of Aquasoil (powder form). No CO2 and no ferts added.

Or could i use Bottled Purified drinking water to top off water due to evaporation and 10% water change weekly ?

    Thanks......

That depends on what is "Purified water". What you need to know is that RO water removes almost %99 of the minerals and chemicals. Some people find that this causes molting problem for the shrimp because of the lack of chemicals/minerals needed for the new shell.
But if you are using the RO water as top off and regular tap water during water changes. Then I don't see a problem with that.

I personally use RO water 100% and add a few spoons of SERA Mineral Salts. I have no problem with molting, all the shirmps seems fine and breeding.

I also use only RO in my CRS tank and use foods that add supplements needed for moulting etc. I also have no problems with my shrimp moulting or breeding...
