    Default Why do tiger shrimp turn blue?

    Does anyone know why tiger shrimp sometimes have a bluish coloration... is it a good sign or a bad sign?

    Usually said that, blue tiger shrimp, demonstrated passes the transparent blue color is the good phenomenon!

    They always seem to turn blue when I do water changes... I wasn't sure if that was stressing them out or if it was a good sign

    dont think is a good sign. My tiger started to turn blue at the same time my crs turn pale white. seems like strugging for their life.Did a 25% water chamge and luckly all seems normal again.

    That does depend. If usual shrimp morphs change their color usually something is wrong. However there are morphs that have an unusual color all the time, for them its normal.
    There are blue tiger shrimp, that usually have orange eyes for example. These do show their best and brightest colors, when they feel well.

    if you have them for a few month than they suddendly off colour something must be wrong. No causualty from mine yesterday.thank god

    What sp. of Neocaridina are these ones with yellow stripes?

    These are no Neocaridina. It is known as Caridina cf. babaulti var Malaya. However very rare in Germany, as there are no regular imports and only a few serious breeders who breed it.

    Yes they are that blue. At least some of them, there is still some variety in that strain.
