Xema, those golden shelled snails look amazing! I wonder if I could somehow get those over here in the US... I'll have to look around, but would love those

Does anyone know anything about breeding Nertite snails... I have a few (and want more). I have heard they only breed in brackish water but I have been reading that you can also get them to hatch and grow in hard water.
    Any suggestions??????

You can also use applesnails in your tank. They clean up very nicely and you can get them in a bunch of different colors. You just have to make sure you only have males, or you have to remove eggclutches when they lay them. They put eggclutches above waterlevel, and they use +/- 14 days to hatch depending on temperature, so you have plenty of time to remove them if you dont want babies. I breed them and have some in my shrimp tank to make sure everything that can pollute the water gets eaten.

If you want to know more about them, you can check out applesnail.net. It has alot of nice info and some pictures. snailshop.co.uk you can also check out for pictures. They also sell snails, but I dont know how far they ship them.
