I am curious to know how many types of shrimps there are in the world today. I have seen different kinds of tetra fish, discus, arowana, beta and ect but my fave is to shrimp. Any one knows the actual figures and name list??

A list is not enough IMO.
I want to see pics and how to keep/breed them too.
Hereīs the biggest one I know from germany: www.wirbellose.de/arten.html#Garnelen
It would be nice if the list here at shrimpnow would get bigger.
Itīs international, so when there is a possibility it should be here!

Something in English definitely helps

Also germany.![]()
No infos at all but very nice pics there.
The photos are from Chris Lukhaup. Heīs one of the experts here.

Better click "deutsch (german)" and then "Garnelen" (shrimps). There are more species to find than on the english page.
Yep,
Crusta 10 is where I go if I want to look at shrimp/crayfish pictures and dream.

Have you used Google language tools before? You might have to cut and paste text into the translation box as sometimes the 'tranlate a web page' option doesn't work. It's very handy and I'd be lost without it as so many good shrimp pages are in German.

Another english-language site is http://www.shrimpcrabsandcrayfish.co.uk/ . Thyat was the first shrimp site I found and was very interesting with good pictures.
Yeah, I do use Google's language tools quite often. Very useful when I come across any websites in a foreign language (provided I know what language it is in). Still wish I could read German though since there are more websites in German about shrimps.
http://www.shrimpcrabsandcrayfish.co.uk/ was also one of the first sites I found before I got any shrimps. Like their pictures too![]()

So anybody has ideas to get "our" list at shrimpnow bigger?![]()
We could also create a list like wirbellose.de with pics and informations in english.
I have not much knowledge, but I would offer my help for such a project.
Hi Frank,
I am thinking of listing all the species of shrimps and let member pick the species they want to write on and provide picture.
Members will be able to write new article in the Library section?
What you think of this?
Anyone else has other suggestions?
