Default Floating plant for shrimp tank

Hello there, sorry for my bad english.
I see some shrimp breeder on youtube put floating plant in his tank, like duckweed and frogbit, so i put duckweed too on my tank.
What is the function of floating plant? i hear it can help the nitrogen cycle and provide oxygen,
Is there anyone can explain it please.
    Thank you.

Halo Bima. Other than sucking nutients eg. nitrates etc. floating plants will shade your tank from lights coming from the top. Too strong lights might not favor well with neocaridina / caridina genus. Also shrimps love to hang on on those floating roots.
