Default RO water directly into the tank?

    Hi guys,

I had several questions about water changes, evaporation and using RO water directly into the tank.

What I usually do now is I put tap water that runs through my RO unit directly into the tank (without adding any minerals) for water lost during evaporation and then I would add minerals directly into the tank.

I only top up and rarely do water changes mostly because I figured the TDS will constantly remain the same if I just add 0 TDS RO water.

I'm not sure if this method is ok. I usually see people saving up RO water in a different tank, let it settle for couple days and mix the minerals BEFORE adding it the tank.

Is there a difference between the two methods and if so, which one is safer for shrimps?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello,
you should mix well the mineral and let it settle one day before add into your tank don't ever add mineral directly into your tank and don't ever add the tap water(the tap water is the killer) tell me what shrimps you're keeping?

I think it's not a big deal, adding mineral and RO water seprately into your tank OR let it settled at least 24H before introduce to the tank. But it depends on what kind of mineral you use and you should to know 'bout its exact dosage...
I use mineral product(for Discus) which is very easily melted down in water, so i don't have to let it settle for couple of days before and never got the problem until now. just mix with RO water in a small container and shake it then add into the tank smoothly.
