It's a small branch & a really dead one...I'll boil it to remove most of the tannins but it's very small. When I added the other branch & the Indian Almond leaves, the pH went from 8.2 to 8 so I should be OK with this one. Thank you so much for all your help...you really saved the day!

I think boiling will make it worse. You just need to let it slowly age in your tank.

Have you tried using chemicals to boost your cycling process?

I used Stabilty & Prime to cycle...both Seachem products...when I took the branch out of the tank, my parameters immediately went to 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites & 5-10 nitrates & have held perfect for almost 2 weeks...no more spikes so it must have been the branch. I put some large lava rocks & a bought manzanita branch, all boiled & then soaked for an hour in Prime water, in the tank & my parameters have remained perfect. I also have a pretty good coating of biofilm on my sides & back of the tank...I love Stability & Prime!

Stability & Prime used to be my top favourite. When I am using it, all kind of substrates can be cycled within 3 weeks (with proper pre-aging process).

However, I have a new found love that can cycle in 3 days : http://www.shrimpnow.com/forum/showt...obiotics-Blend

WOW...I'm very impressed with your knowledge...but until you put that great knowledge into little bottles on shelves that we can all use, guess we're going to have to keep using Stability & Prime...come on...put it out there for all of us...please.

It is already in little bottle but not on the shelves. No intention of commercialising my products yet, do not want to go into the dark side. LOL!!!

Currently, I am distributing to all my friends and fellow shrimp keepers who wanted to try it. I do sent a big bottle to my mate in US and have gotten him to repack into small dropper bottle and send to anyone who needs it. If you are interested to try, I can get him to ship a bottle.

Thanks for your kind offer but I'll only have this on tank...no room for any more now...but it sure sounds like good stuff.
