    Default Half CRS half CBS

    Hi everyone.
Yesterday I found an interesting shrimp in my CBS tank, it is a very young shrimp, so the quality of the picture is not so good (ok my skills with my camera are not that good either), but I thought I'd show you some pictures of it/him/her. I hope I manage to make this post as I plan.. I am new here...

my goodness , it is real. truly amazing .. how many are there ? i've seen one in shrimp magazine , I thought they must be edited..
if you got more than 1 pair , you could start selective breeding them .. and hopefully could breed more like it ..

Unfortunately I only have one like this. I also have a CRS about tha same size with different patterns on each side (3 banded on one and mosura on the other), but only red-white, not CRS-CBS...

Amazing! If I understood correct, it's not possible to breed them. It's a genetic thing. Simple version: when the eggs and seed melt together, one part of the black seed was used and one part of the red seed. I'm sure this is not correct, but I don't know how to explain is more simple . You see this also with lobsters, search Google for 'two tone lobster' to read more about this. The chance this happens is very small, so you can be pretty sure you probably have the ONLY one in the world that looks like this. Keep him safe, we would love to see him grow and make some good pictures of him! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the info and the explanation, I really appreciate it. I will try my best to keep him safe, so I can take some nice pictures when he's bigger.

Im not sure that this kind of animal is sterile. Ive seen birds with half fenotipes, one half as a male and another half with female fenotipe and in next breed period had descendants, but no one with this fenotipe. I think is some failure in gene expression.

Hi all, sorry for not updating for a long time. The mutant ninja shrimp has grown up. It didn't turn out to be a good grade shrimp, but it is still nice. It is also very hard to take a good picture of it, since it's almost always moving. So here is a picture (hope it works):
