    Default Newborn Cherax

    Hi everybody
    I have some questions...
My female crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus)have new first babies.
She lives with another smaller male,

What should I do now ?, I want to make sure that the babies will not be eaten by there mother or the father.
Should I separate the male and leave the female to scatter the babies in the tank ?
Should I separate the female to another tank and return her after she finished lay ?

First time that i m breeding Crayfish...

I guess you should separate the male. Maybe using a breeding net.

    Hi!
you can keep mother and father in your tank.
they are harmless to the baby cherax.

    greetings

    Default Something happend today

One on the larvae was taken by the cray female,
she dropt him to the ground - he was helpless.
And then she took him with her claw and ate him.
I was very surprised to see it and could not belive that cannibalism exist at this stage.

Does anybody can tell me why it happened ?
How can I prevent it if it happens again ?
