    photo 1.JPGphoto 2.JPGphoto 3.JPGphoto 4.JPGDear all,

would like to share my nano planted shrimp tank with 4 crs.
Tank size is about 8" cube, "UP" brand led light with fan switched on when light is switched on.
So far, 1 mth with 1 of the females berried.
Temp hovers around 27-28 in the day and about 25-26 when fan is switched.
please help to comment on what can improved in the aquascape.
    Thanks.

    Hi Medusa,

    Great tank you have.

Actually, your substrate is not inclined enough and causes the backdrop a little bit bear. To compensate this, you can use slightly taller plant at the back to bring forth the view of the back.

By the way, since your HC is growing so much. I guess your water is more than KH 0. What KH is your water?

It is almost impossible to have HC and moss grow so densely within a month even with the best light and CO2 on the planet; unless you over blast it to dangerous level or he obtain the HC as one large slab and the moss is already tied to the wood when he bought it. Thus, I think he means he put in the CRS for a month instead of setting up the tank for a month.

Hi, thanks for your comments. So far, I have not done any measurements. I know I must, but I'm too lazy. Hc was grown for about 2-3mths then I tied mini pelia, fissidens to the wood. The wood was added later because I think it will shade the hc. Wood is about 1.5 mth old. The shrimps are also added in. They are living in the tank for about 1 mth plus already. Any idea, what tall plants to recommend?

Are you able to take a picture of the side view (level view) of your tank so that we can we roughly the height raise the view and what plant is suitable?

Since your driftwood is already forming a V-shape and it is supposed to be the center of attention, you use short plant but taller than HC in the rear center (I'm not recommending moss on rock as moss as your drift wood is already using moss and I want to keep it as the focus) and tall and slimmer plant for rear side (your tank is small so need smaller and slimmer plants). Below are are such plants for your reference:

    Rear-center
    1. Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini'
    2. Pogostemon helferi
    3. Staurogyne repens

    Rear-side
    1. Hydrocotyle sp."Japan"
    2. Hemianthus micranthemoides
    3. Vallisneria nana

There are more other plants to choose from, just be aware of how big it will grow and not overtake the space of other plants.

P.S.: Not sure is it the photo problem or your plant really looks yellow. If it is yellow, you may want your brother to resolve the problem for you asap. HC is very fragile. Once it turns yellow for a few days, it will start melting, which will cause rapid nitrate spike due to your tank is so small.

Cheers and enjoy your trip in Huizhou.

Hi thanks, will try to incorporate some plants at the back. The hc color is due to the poor photography
