Default Rack and shrimps photos to share

Greetings to all fellow shrimp keepers and breeders... I have been keeping shrimps for about 3 years plus... started off with Cherry, Sakura.. and jumped on to CRS and CBS.. Had a taste of keeping Black King Kong (just 1pc) but ended up in failure because keeping them was so hard initially..

After that, I had a big jump into having a 6 tanks (each 60cm x 35cm x 30cm) rack which filtration is using a sump and each individual tank has 2 air sponge filters and 1 bottle of K1 media to provide extra filtration, and I am also pumping in air via EHEIM air diffuser to each of these tank.. This is the rack which I started off with and right now I am still using it to house my PRL (Pure Red Line) of 2 different bloodline.

And not long after I have started another rack which I have bought off another hobbyist who is temporary stopping. This rack, each tank is 120cm x 40cm x 30cm. But this filtration is totally different from my first rack.. For this rack, I am running 1xPre-filter (packed with just wool) + EHEIM 2026 + EHEIM 2217 + EHEIM 2215 per tank. (meaning I have 2 Prefilters and 6 canisters under my rack.. haha)

For setting up, can say that right now I 'swear by' ADA New Amazonia soil.. No doubt it takes a long time to cycle and somehow it has been a very stable soil if the tank matures. In order to enhance the bacteria during cycling, I use Prodibio Biodigest.. Somehow this little vial of liquid bacteria hasten my cycling by almost half.. (Normally a full cycle takes 4~6 weeks, but mine, I introduce shrimps after the 2nd week)

Here are some of my shrimps photos to show.. Hope to hear some comments and feedbacks from all fellow shrimp keepers.. Thank you...

    The PRLs...

    The Black King Kongs..

Sorry that some of the photos are not very well taken as they are taken with iPhone. I will try to post more photos as time comes as I have yet to take photos of my PBL (Pure Black Line)..
    Enjoy and thank you...

    Time for the setting up...

Firstly, I started of by deciding where to place the inlet and the rainbar... Sat there thinking for awhile.. And this is my position which is going to be the same for all my 6 partitions...

Then comes the connection for all the hoses... Will be using EHEIM double taps do in cases where I would need to wash or do maintenance for any canister, I would still be able to do it easily by closing the valves of each segment..

    (Canister 1)

    (Canister 2)

Then all set up proper for the filtration.. Now it's time to sprinkle mineral powder to the base of the tank before putting in the soil..

And this is what I use..

Totally use up a full bottle..

Next comes the soil.. I am using a full ADA New Amazonia soil.. Right now is the Normal which I am pouring..

Last soil to be placed on top will be ADA New Amazonia Powder.. For me, it's not only for aesthetic purpose but also to make sure shrimplets are not hidden from view..

Time for adding water.... Using auto top up but not using RO DI.. Since its only for cycling purpose now, just tap water will do but I am using water which passed from the 3-stage filter before the RO membrane.. Place a bag at the point of water dripping to prevent soil from being messed up..

Well, today marks the first day of cycle for the 1st tank... The rest of the tanks will be in the same sequence but I am giving an interval of 1 month to 1.5 month for the next tank to start cycle..

Will be dosing in all the powder and liquid bacteria tomorrow (or when I am free).. Taking my time to cycle slowly to mature the tank..

Shall update in those soon... Keep yourself reading...

My favorite KK.. Extreme (Full black) KK.. Growing up very well and looking good..

There are quite a number of berried females... Just waiting for their due dates now... Hope to see more shrimplets out soon..

2 berried mama shading themselves (hiding actually.. Haha)

This KK mosura is actually in the Blue Bolt partition... At last she is berried.. Lets hope I can see more KK mosura offspring in the coming birth... A long wait of 21-28 days...
