Not a big deal with CRS/CBS/Golden with pH 5.5-6.5 I used to keep mine at 5.5 and they do well with TDS 130-180.

I think you just need to pump gH higher to 4-5 and you're good to go.

How do you get you water to 5.5? My tap water PH is around 8, my soil will buffer it to 6.8 6.6, but I can't get it lower than that.

The soil does itself. I used ADA New Amazonia and now is BorneoWild Shrimp Soil, both of them give the same pH level to me.
    My tap water is 7.

What soil are you using? Maybe the water is different everywhere so we get different parameter.

I use brightwells Rio Escuro (ADA was out of Amazonia at that time), so far so good, but even in my smaller tanks with Amazonia soil I can only get my water down to 6.6

The shrimps arrived today! Beautifull little guys, they seem very active. I tried to take some pics, my phone camera is not good

Try using RO water. Most of those water machines at grocery stores are RO. That will help lower your ph from the start.

Very nice. Could you share what are plants used? Especially the small one in front of the tank.
