I have some of the exotic Japanese mineral rock and all of my shrimp (Cherries, Tangerine Tigers, Malawa shrimp, yellows, etc.) seem to ignore it.

I have some montmorillonite based mineral rocks on order (the far more common type sold) and will see how those are received.

Most neocaridina shrimp are kept in harder water (most people use tap water) so the lack of minerals is not as much of an issue as it is in softwater tanks like people keep for bee shrimp (CRS, Taiwan Bees, etc.).

The mineral rocks certainly don't seem to hurt anything though so if you have some there isn't any good reason that I can see not to use them.
