I bought Seachem Comprehensive fertilizer yesterday. After opening the bottle, i discovered that the solution is dark brown in color looks like black water.....and has a pungent smell i wonder is the bottle expired.....

According to its dozage its 5ml for 250 Liters wow!!!!

Has anyone been using this product? Good or bad comments?

:bs_help: Thanks!!!

I am not familiar with the brand, but I used to be an avid gardener. What you are describing to me sounds like a seaweed solution that we use to make [old days] with aged kelp, add a bit of mature manure added for good luck. The garden plants just loved it.

I know this doesn’t help much, but really smell it a couple of times, eyes closed when you do so your senses concentrate on the smell.

WARNING: check the label of the bottle first to make sure it is safe to inhale.

Thanks for the advise. But a little too late for my tank now.
I guess the nutrients is ok at first everything seems to grow faster and sudden reduce in aglae and....a few days later ......massive algae take over.....the fertilizter must have a nutrient in excess that stack with the root sticks i planted in the gravel or the shrimp bioload. Next time i will not add any root stick if i am using aDa africana which breaks fast....i suspect a leak....

Will do 60-70% water change after my H2o2 treatment. Hope it will balance the nutrients in the water and weakens the algae enough for it to retreat. I definately will not fert until the plants started to have stun growth.

Thanks for the advise nevada. I gonna stop all fert dosing until the plants has signs of stun growth or turning yellow. Will consider to try dennerlle cause i am running out of reliable products to test.

HI SIM
if u have a low light no co2 setup :
just get pottasium chloride and ferrous gluconate and start dose them in small quantities in your tank
if u have high intensity +co2 setup :
add KNO3+K2PO4+KCL and a few more things and ask me here how to use them .
this chemicals would do the job for any begginer , if and when u get them u can ask me here dosages and instructions.
if u dont want to mess with chemicals i make my own ADA like ferts :SHADE FERTS + HIGH INTENSITY FERTS + mor products and i can send u samples for free , u just have to pay for the shippment

here are a few pics from my tanks:

I miss this post, yes indeed, the tank is pretty. When are you going to introduce shrimps into your tank, baruch mor? :)

Thanks baruch mor. Nice heavily planted tank, half of my setup are moss. :)

I am not having a low light setup, I guess my inexperience in planting overlooked the oceanfree root monster's capability :D They are very very powerful, after plant them, the foreground plants flourish, no need any liquid fert. For H2o2 nuking, 3days black out and some water change. The algae is now under control.
