Hello everyone,

I wonder how long cherries and other small shrimp species live? Is the lifespan similar for all species? I have heard about two years, but I'm not sure if the info was reliable. Do you have any experience about normal lifespan in healthy shrimps?

Thank you in advance for any information.

Hi Annya,
the lifespan of shrimps is not always the same. Under good conditions a malayan shrimp can life for 2 till 2.5 years in your tank, depending on the age in which you bought them. Smaller species don't reach such an age. The average lifespan of a cherry, tiger, Crystal Red or green shrimp should be 15 till 18 months, maybe 20 months. The females get up to 4 times pregnant normally, so you don't have to worry too much about the lifespan.
